Announcing My New Novel: Maya
Announcing My New Novel: Maya
I'm thrilled to announce that my new novel, Maya, is now available!
Maya the tragicomic tale of an Indonesian migrant worker's voyage through love and betrayal, is the English version of my novel Rasa, previously published in Malaysia by Buku Fixi (2019) and in Indonesia by GagasMedia (2019). Maya is a story about an Indonesian who decides to plunge into the world of waiting tables on a cruise ship and eventually finds herself stranded in the city of London.
Set in cruise ship cabins, East London pubs, and West End brothels, this tragicomedy is a tale of working-class survival, a search for identity, and the hope of finding a harbour in life’s stormy sea.
You can find Maya at Foyles, Waterstones, WH Smith, Periplus or your local bookstores. The Kindle edition is also available on Amazon, and you can order it directly through the publisher's site: [monsoonbooks.co.uk]

A side note: I wrote Maya in 2017, right when I got off the cruise ship where I worked. Everything that happened in the novel feels fresh off my head. It was also my first experience being in London, which is why I had to write about Soho and the things I encountered during my stay there. And knowing me, you'd want to know what I bumped into!
Read Maya, it's funny, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
PS: I would like to thank my publisher, editor, The British Council, & The National Book Committee of Indonesia, for making this happen!
this story is amazing, moving, thank you Nuril for bringing such a beautiful piece of life, such a life lesson, I love "Maya" and I like the way you write.
